Welcome to Karen Akers Photography. I strive to capture the right picture to tell your story. I am a full time photographer who specializes in sports, senior, family, maternity, newborn, specialty and scenic photography. I am also available for event photography. I also design senior, wedding, newborn, and other specialty announcements. I have a portable studio and will travel to your home or other designated spot.
My Photography is my passion. I have been taking pictures since I was 6 years old. I have always been intrigued by capturing that special moment in time. I have always been a people watcher and I think that skill has helped me to capture images that are true of spirit and emotion. I try really hard to capture images that tell the story through the emotions of the people who live them or the scene I am capturing.
My images are captured on high resolution professional Cannon 7D camera. I edit in Adobe Lightroom 3 and Adobe Photoshop CS5. I am a naturalist in the way I edit most photographs. I can and do specialty editing and techniques. The way I edit photographs is based on the customer and their needs.
During a shoot I spend a lot of time trying to make the client feel at ease and relaxed. My photographic technique is natural and not very posed. I love capturing that secret look a bride gives her groom when they are spending special moments together or when a newborn gives you that little half smile. Capturing those moments are priceless. I also spend a lot of time photographing athletes and not only do I want to capture them in their sport, I also want to capture those special moments after a win, a score, a great routine, and the time with their family and friends. I love when clients help me know about the types of photographs they like, editing techniques and outdoor locations.
Outdoor photography is my favorite. It can be a challenge with lighting and the elements but I think those challenges inspire me.
I am always open to new ideas, poses, lighting and editing techniques and new outdoor locations. I never stop trying to find new ways to perfect my craft and capture the moment that tells your story.
